About JCAC

Jackson County Arts Council

The Jackson County Arts Council Logo was designed by founding JCAC Board Member Sandra Seden.

In November of 2011 a group of art lovers met informally to discuss starting a Jackson County Arts Council. Everyone agreed that such an organization would help coordinate and invigorate the current art scene as well as stimulate the local economy. Vowing to get back together after the holidays, plans were put on hold until February 2012 when a dynamic core of ladies went to work.

Two years later the result of their work is evident. The JCAC now has an official board, an office, a post office box, a bank account and now is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

JCAC members have partnered with several different community organizations to exhibit and showcase art by local artists and hold free art activities. In addition, JCAC has staged the highly successful, countywide, student art show, “Celebrate the Arts” in both 2013 and 2014. The first annual “Dancing with the Stars – Jackson County Style!” event raised over $10,000 which was shared with area nonprofit organizations. The group’s logo expresses a heartfelt desire to promote, encourage and support music, dance, drama and visual arts in Jackson County.
